America's Electric Utilities: Past, Present, and Future
Published in Paperback by Public Utilities Reports (December, 2000)
Authors: Leonard S. Hyman, Andrew S. Hyman, and Robert C. Hyman
Average review score:

Best Book on Electric Utilitys in the market
I read the 5th version of the book several years ago working for a large multinational electric utility and since then have ordered every update of the book. It is one of the best books on the industry written, easy to read, easy to understand the drivers behind this complex industry. It allows the reader to grasp the technical concepts involved, and provides good insights into the business case of an electric utility by clearly defining the industries value drivers and how they are reflected in a utilities P&L, B/S and cashflow statement. Furthermore it provides good insight into the regulatory framework and its interdependencies with the industry. The new edition (7th) is just as supperb as I am used to from the author. Great job.

The American Spirit
Published in Paperback by Houghton Mifflin Co (30 July, 1997)
Authors: Thomas Andrew Bailey and David M. Kennedy
Average review score:

Great teacher source!
This book provides wonderful sources for the middle school classroom. As an 8th grade social studies teacher I would be lost without this book. It provides a great balance for the textbook, and brings history alive for students. Some sources are advanced, but many can be used in an inclusive classroom setting. A perfect choice for any teacher of early American history.

Ancient Wisdom
Published in Hardcover by Carlton Books (28 October, 2002)
Authors: Andrews McMeel and Vivianne Crowley
Average review score:

Ancient Wisdom: a book for the modern soul
An anthropology professor once remarked, "Primitive man was not so primitive as modern man would like to believe." This aphorism is beautifully demonstrated by Vivianne and Chris Crowley's Ancient Wisdom. The authors guide us on a fascinating journey through the culture, religion, and wisdom of the ancient societies that give us our "modern" roots, and some of the ancient societies that still exist in our modern world. They conclude by weaving a contemporary context and relevance from the common themes. This book, like Dr. Crowley's earlier Celtic Wisdom, is a work of art as well as a work of literature. It is hard bound, printed on gloss paper and richly illustrated with beautiful and evocative imagery. Highly recommended for both the coffee table and the library.

Another Book Young Harry Potter fans will enjoy...
This is the tale of 11-year-old Andrew, an alchemist's apprentice, and King Oliver, the Prime Minister Bogardus, Mrs. Strawspinner and the mysterious Frederick. And yes, a basilisk as well. A good book for children who love fantasy and extravagant language, particularly those who love Harry Potter. Evocative black and white illustrations by Deanne Hollinger.

Andrew Glassner's Notebook: Recreational Computer Graphics (Computer Graphics and Geometric Modeling)
Published in Paperback by Morgan Kaufmann (03 August, 1999)
Author: Andrew S. Glassner
Average review score:

Very interesting and entertaining
I regret I only had chance to peek at the book at the friend's place. The book took me away for half an hour - not enough to really enjoy it, but enough to decide it's going to be in my library.

Glassner's style is fresh, precise and highly readable; illustrations are eye-catching. I admit I had to skip the math, but I know I can go back and find the *details* there.

The only bad taste left after reading this book is, that Graphics Gems series (of which Andrew Glassner was editor) is (probably) dead.

Andrew Glassner is one of my favorite CG writers and I expected more Graphics Gems to come out ... and (sadly) this is not a right replacement.

Andrew Hoyne Design Book
Published in Paperback by Books Nippan (November, 1997)
Author: Andrew Hoyne
Average review score:

Mark's choice- Andrew Hoyne, top designer
This book is very indepth with a broad range of all the disciplines which Andrew Hoyne has excelled at in the design enviroment we all live in. His work has a unique style, very clean and suggestive, great use of color and a firm base understanding of branding and how to make a company strive higher in the big world out there. Great fresh creative ideas which will even inspire the non designer, but even just the sort of person who appreciates great looking design.
